Yuma County has a year-round population of approximately 200,000 residents. During the winter, the population increases by about 90,000 due to the sun-seeking Winter Visitors affectionately known as "Snowbirds". Incorporated towns and cities within Yuma County are San Luis (city), Somerton (city), Wellton (town), and Yuma (city). The sunny skies, low humidity and irrigation from the Colorado River have made the area not only the North American Winter Vegetable Capital, but also an agricultural research and education hub.

A Yuma business myth: As with many communities in Southwestern Arizona, Yuma's summer business seems to "die off". There is some truth to the story, but not much. In the slowest sales months of the year (June, July and August) the aggregate sales by Yuma businesses represents 22-24% of their annual sales.
The Yuma area is fortunate to have a thriving economic development organization, Greater Yuma Economic Development Corporation. Our friends at GYEDC work hand in hand with us and many other organizations for the betterment of our community. For detailed economic information for Yuma County visit GYEDC's website here.
